My Brother Knights,

The department of Health and Human Services is readying it’s final rule as to which “preventative services” must be covered by ALL health insurance plans under the health care reform act passed last year. As currently written, the rule would require all health insurance plans, effectively including those provided by Catholic Institutions to cover contraception (including contraceptives which may cause an abortion) and sterilization. This is both an assualt on religious liberties and a culture of life.

Please take a moment to go to www.kofc.org/rights to read a message from our Supreme Knight, Carl A. Anderson and send an e-mail to Health and Human Services Secretary Katheleen Sebelius voicing your opposition to said rule. The public comment period ends Friday, September 30th. Thank you for your time.

Brother Knights,

From Wednesday, September 28th until Sunday, November 6th, the 40 Days for Life campaign will be hosting a prayer vigil outside of the abortion clinic on Hamilton Blvd. 40 Days for Life is a peaceful, prayer-focused vigil. This campaign against abortion should be something we should all be involved in; Pope Benedict XVII tells us that life is a gift from God, to be preserved with care and love at every moment, we need to bring this love to everyone that we can and this campaign is one of the ways of we can do this. In addition, the abortion clinic on Hamilton is having trouble renewing its lease and this campaign may draw enough attention to the clinic that public pressure could force it out of business! Please consider registering for an hour or more of the vigil at: The 40 Days for Life Website .

Vivat Jesu!

Brothers,

Our monthly parish breakfast season kicks off Sunday, Septmeber 18 after the 8:30 and 10 AM masses. We need help, especially at the beginning for set up and the end for clean up. Please consider giving a few hours of your time to the most frequent opportunity (outside of mass) for fellowship in the parish. You pick the time and number of hours you can give. If you can’t help behind the serving line, make sure you pass by on the other side and sample the delicious food we prepare each breakfast. The breakfast raises the most funds for our needy charities, so your support is essential.

Brothers,

Come join us for the annual Council Family Picnic on Wednesday July 13 at Lone Lane Park, Upper Macungie from 5-9 pm. This picnic is open to everyone. Bring your family, friends and neighbors. They do not have to be a Knight. Council members who do attend the picnic will receive a chance to win the 50/50 pot, which has been steadily growing this year.

If you would like to bring a side dish or a dessert that would be greatly appreaciated. The council will be providing hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken too! (I think…)
